Collaboration with Mikoll Rodriguez - Barcelona, Spain

This sculptural series emerged as a three-dimensional extension of my ongoing exploration of form and color, specifically derived from a painting in my Chromatic Variation collection. In collaboration with artist Mikollr, who specializes in cast concrete, we developed three unique, author-designed pieces created solely for this project.

From an experimental approach, I proposed bringing my irregular polygonal compositions off the canvas and into the physical space. I’ve long been curious about the idea of what lies behind a painting—what its reverse side might look like, the hidden structure that supports the visible narrative. This curiosity became a shared vision with Mik, whose technical expertise allowed us to give these shapes volume, mass, and spatial presence.

Each sculpture was carefully cast to preserve the visual tension of the original designs, while reinterpreting them through the material language of concrete. The outcome is a set of abstract sculptural objects—raw and elegant—that challenge the traditional notion of a painting’s flatness by becoming autonomous forms.

These works were first exhibited in the group show “Convergente”, held in Barcelona in 2017, as part of a conversation between painting and sculpture, gesture and material, surface and volume.

This collaboration represents a moment of synthesis between two complementary practices and continues to fuel my interest in expanding the physical and conceptual boundaries of visual art.
